The Proposed Lake Calumet Airport: A review of the Issues
The Lake Calumet Feasibility Study proposes to locate Chicago's third airport in the area bounded by 95th Street on the north, the Calumet Expressway on the west, Interstate-80 on the south, and Indiana Harbor on the east.
The Feasibility Study presents six conclusions in its description of -- and justification for -- a Lake Calumet Airport location, including:

Ford Heights Commercial Development Study
In early 1991, the Center for Urban Economic Development of the University of Illinois at Chicago surveyed the shopping habits of 350 households of the Ford-Heights area of Southern Cook County in Illinois. The survey was a part of a preliminary determination of the feasibility of constructing a commercial shopping facility to be located at the corner of Woodlawn and Lincoln Highway in Ford Heights. More specifically, the survey targeted Ford-Heights purchases of fast foods, drug-store items, food at sit-down restaurants, hardware-store items, and dry-cleaning/landromat services.
A Preliminary Feasibility Assessment of the MANOS Project (for Travelers and Immigrants Aid)
The Chicago Institute on Urban Poverty requested that the Center for Urban Economic Development complete a preliminary assessment of the market feasibility of a proposed job referral collective called MANOS. Job services that might be provided in Cook County by members of the collective include house cleaning, house painting, gardening, minor home repairs, child care, and elder care. For purposes of this study, these services were grouped under three categories: "house maintenance worker," "child care worker," and "elder care worker."
Market and Financial Analysis for Video Production Corporation with Community Television Network
This study presents the results of a market and financial analysis for a community based video production corp. (VPC), conducted by the Center for Urban Economic Development (CUED) for the Community Television Network (CTVN). The VPC would be established as a second step in a comprehensive three tiered CTVN program, comprising basic training, on the job training (OJT), and job placement.
Humbolt Park: Employment Challenges and Opportunities
Chicago’s Humboldt Park economy and residential community have changed significantly since the 1970s. An Evaluation Of The Paternal Involvement Demonstration
The Paternal Involvement Demonstration project (PIDP) was a public-private partnership initiative undertaken to demonstrate the value of providing job training, job placement and paternal involvement services to young non-custodial fathers whose children received support from Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC). Along with the Manpower Demonstration Research Corporation's Parents Fair Share (PFS) pilot project, PIDP was, in 1992, unique in its focus on developing parenting and employment-related services for welfare-dependent non-custodial fathers.
