The area known as Monterey-Vincennes is located in Morgan Park, just south of Beverly Hills on the far southwest side of Chicago. In conjunction with urban renewal plans, several blocks along both Monterey and Vincennes Avenues have been cleared for redevelopment. The University of Illinois Center for Urban Economic Development was retained by several neighborhood groups to prepare redevelopment plans that were economically viable, improved the appearance of the area, and were in concert with local objectives.

Grand Portage Lodge Project Critique
We have conducted a study of the various factors related to the commercial-resort facility, Grand Portage Lodge, located in Grand Portage Minnesota. We have included in the accompanying report estimates of future income and expenses at various time periods of operation. This study was prepared based on a visit to Grand Portage Lodge, interviews with Radisson Management Company and certain State of Minnesota officials in August 1981.
Impact of the Chicago Building Code on Small Businesses
Building codes play an important role in the stabilization and revitalization of neighborhoods. While much local attention has been focused on building codes changes to accommodate residential revitalization, there has been little corresponding discussion of the impact of the code on small businesses. The Chicago Association of Neighborhood Development Organizations (CANDO) has stepped in to help fill the knowledge gap with this report. Surveys, interviews, a meticulous review of the Chicago Building Code, and comparisons of the Chicago Code to model and suburban codes were conducted.
