Management Plan for 79th and Cottage Grove Commercial Strip

The viability of the commercial strip bounded by 77th Street on the north, Dobson Street on the east, 81st Street on the south, and Rhodes Street on the west, is threatened. Vacancies in stores and shops are increasing. Business activity at the perimeters of the strip has slackened. Present efforts to stabilize the commercial strip have not been sufficient to stem the flight of investors. There is a need to implement a Business Revitalization Program on the strip that will address both its problems and opportunities.

Community Health Clinic Feasibility Study for Accounters Community Center

We determined that the neighborhood clinic type of health care delivery model was the most appropriate for the circumstances of our client. We identified both a primary and secondary service market. We derived that there was a potential demand of 411,844 patient visits per year. Only 103,000 of these potential patient visits are actually being accommodated. This left a residual or unmet demand of over 300,000 patient visits. The existing building, if rehabilitated, could capture or accommodate 25,000 annual patient visits or 8 percent of the residual demand.

South Shore Energy Store: Market Feasibility and Organizational Alternatives

In March 1981, The Neighborhood Institute (TNI) asked the Center for Urban Economic Development (CUED) of the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle to perform a feasibility study for a for-profit energy center that would operate in the South Shore area. The center would include a store selling energy saving products and a service center providing audits and installation services. It would be part of a general effort by TNI to revitalize South Shore's deteriorating housing stock and at the same time increase its own income base.

Grand Portage Lodge Project Critique

We have conducted a study of the various factors related to the commercial-resort facility, Grand Portage Lodge, located in Grand Portage Minnesota. We have included in the accompanying report estimates of future income and expenses at various time periods of operation. This study was prepared based on a visit to Grand Portage Lodge, interviews with Radisson Management Company and certain State of Minnesota officials in August 1981.
