The multi-story public parking garage proposed by the Chatham Business Association will be located on 79th Street and Rhodes Street (see attached map, page 8). The garage project has been anticipated by the Chatham community since 1981, when a study which focused on the 79th and Cottage Grove Street commercial strip was done by the Center for Urban Economic Development of University of Illinois at Chicago (UICUED). It is only now that a site for the proposed garage has become available. Buildings which were formerly located on the proposed site were torn down several years ago.
